After the recent success of the Lotus Exige 270E Tri-Fuel at the Shanghai Motor Show, Youngman Auto, the lightweight English sports car builder’s Chinese partner has submitted a request that the concept go into production, at least for the Chinese market by the end of this year. The alternatively fueled Lotus made its debut at Geneva in 2008, and what set the car apart from normal flex fuel vehicles that can run on a blend of gasoline and ethanol, the Exige 270E adds methanol into the mix. It is no surprise that the Chinese are so interested in the Tri-Fuel, because back in 2007 China became the world’s largest producer and consumer of methanol.

This is another "long overdue" post. My wife and I went to Gulf Shores Alabama back in April for about a week and we decided to take the Elise along for some roadster fun at the beach. Packing for the trip was no different than the other roadtrips we've taken with the Lotus, we just had to leave the soft top on until we arrived in Orange Beach where we could unpack and clear up room to store the top. The Lotus Elise is made (specifically) for curvy roads that test any car's handling ability but it is also a fun car for a 2 day roadtrip down a very straight highway. The downside is trunk space / boot space but as I've said before it's not hard to pack for travelling with it, you just have to be smart about it.

The all new lightweight and high performance track day Lotus The new Lotus "Circuit Car" was announced yesterday (Saturday, 11 June 2005) by Kim Ogaard-Nielsen, CEO of Group Lotus, to privileged Lotus Club International members at the annual Lotus Club International Gala Dinner held at Norwich City Football Club. Based on the Lotus Elise Aluminium chassis, and weighing in at approximately 600kg, the single-seater car (with an option of two seats) has been designed and engineered solely for Track Day and Club Racing.

The use of carbon fiber in cars is no big news. After all, we do hear of many autmotive parts being made from the substance. However, you would gladly agree that it is big new when you hear of a complete car made from carbon fiber. Welcom the 2002 Lotus Elise that comes straight from Hong Kong.
Designed by car enthusiast Jimmy Wong, this roadster comes with a fully custom carbon fiber body, both exterior as well as interior included. The outside has a grey black impact while the inside features carbon fiber in black and silver. Custom made by TW Auto Limited, the Lotus special was built within a time frame of six months.
